Microsoft Windows 7 L2TP VPN
1. Click on the "Start" button and click on "Control Panel".
2. Click on the "Network and Internet".
3. Click on "Connect to a network" under "Network and Sharing Center".
4. Click on "Set up a new connection or network".
5. On the next screen, click on "Connect to a workplace", then click "Next".
6. If you are asked "If you would like to use an existing connection" choose "No, create a new connection" and then choose "Use my Internet connection (VPN)".
7. On the next screen, enter the server address in "Internet address" field and put any name in "Destination name" like "Cienen". Ensure that the checkbox labeled "Don't connect now; just set it up so I can connect later" is checked. Then click the "Next" button.
8. Enter your VPN account Username and Password. Optionally, check the "Remember this password" checkbox, then click the "Create" button.
9. Click the "Close" button.
10. Click on the active connection icon in the system tray and "Currently connected to" dialog box will appear.
11. Click on the new connection that you just created and then click "Connect".
12. In the connection window click "Properties" and then go to the "Options" tab.
13. Remove the tick from the "Include Windows logon domain" in "Dialing options" section and then go to the "Security" tab.
14. From the dropdown menu choose "Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol with IPsec (L2TP/IPsec)" option, then click on the "Advanced settings" button.
15. In the "L2TP" dialog, click the radio button labeled "Use preshared key for authentication". Then enter the Pre-Shared key that you have received with your VPN account details email when you have placed your order with us. Then click the "OK" button.
16. Choose "Allow these protocols" and click on check box "Challenge Handshake Authentication Protocol (CHAP)" and "Microsoft CHAP Version 2 (MS-CHAP v2)" for authentication.
17. Go to the "Networking" tab and uncheck "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)" from the connection items selection and click the "OK" button.
18. In the connection window click "Connect".
